Biography

Dr. Beverly J. O’Bryant, LPC, NCC, NCSC recognized by the Daily Record as one of the Top 100 Women in Maryland in 2014 and 2022 is Founding Dean and tenured full professor of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Coppin State University (CSU) (Baltimore, MD). She’s responsible for 10 undergraduate and 4 graduate degree programs, 8 advanced certificate programs, a study abroad program and founding Executive Director of the Bishop L. Robinson, Sr. Justice Institute. Dr. O’Bryant is a Past President of the 80,000 member American Counseling Association (ACA), the 50,000 member American School Counselor Association (ASCA), the Association for Multicultural Counseling Development (AMCD) and an ACA Fellow. She was Executive Producer and host of a monthly radio show “The Coppin Connection” on the “Ask Dr. B” radio program on WBAL 1010 AM for 10 years, and then hosted the Coppin Connection Podcast. She founded the CSU section of the National Council of Negro Women (the last college section chartered in Dr. Dorothy I. Height’s lifetime) and established the Bishop L. Robinson, Sr. Justice Institute. Her professional interests include aspirational and executive leadership, mentoring, public relations and government relations. She’s a 100-mile bicycler and an intermediate downhill slalom racer with the International Brotherhood of Skiers’ DC Black Ski Chapter. She took gold, bronze and silver in her last four years of competitions and placed as the ninth (9th) fastest woman on the mountain in the Challenge Cup Race at Breckinridge, Colorado.
